Established by Royal Charter in 1917, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission pays tribute to the 1,700,000 men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the two world wars. It is a non-profit-making organisation that was founded by Sir Fabian Ware.
Since openning in 1992, The Historial Museum of the Great War strives to place war in a social context, stressing the common suffering of the combatants and the civilians, who were equally mobilised by the war effort.
'Remembrance and Tourism' is about making the most of France's exceptional military and civic heritage. The "chemins de mémoire" or 'remembrance itineraries' are suggested routes for tourists looking to discover sites of the Great War.

In July 2005, 89 years after the Battle of the Somme, The Somme Remembrance Association was formed to help, ensure that the sacrifice of the men, the soldiers who came to fight and for thousands even to die, may never be forgotten.
